The Influence of Happiness on Managers’ Performance

Your organization is participating in research conducted by Curtin University aimed at determining the impact of Australian managers’ happiness on their job performance. This study is funded by the Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre. You are invited to participate in an online survey that will be conducted at two points in time.

Results from the study are intended to help managers with the pressures facing them in contemporary organizations. Data will be aggregated to form an overall picture of managers’ performance in Australian organizations. The findings will potentially lead to higher organizational productivity and wellbeing through a greater understanding of the factors impacting on how managers perform their roles. The findings are intended to personally benefit people like yourself in terms of providing insights to seek more effective approaches in dealing with workloads and the associated pressures facing contemporary managers.

An overall picture of your job performance will be established by asking your direct superior to rate your performance once during the study period. Responses to questions about your performance will be ‘matched’ with yours to form a clearer picture of manager performance. Neither you nor your direct report will have access to each other’s responses.

This survey should take no longer than 10-20 minutes to complete. All data collected in the survey will be kept confidential. Taking part in a research project is voluntary. The study adheres to very strict national ethics protocols approved by the Curtin University Human Ethics Committee.
